What You Might Not Know About Express Care with Dori Moss

For many patients, getting sick or injured doesn’t happen on a schedule. Whether it’s a child who wakes up with an ear infection, a weekend sports injury or a sudden illness that can’t wait. That’s where Express Care comes in.

With locations in Hamilton and Middletown, Primary Health Solutions’ Express Care clinics provide same-day treatment for illnesses and injuries while helping patients connect to the broader healthcare services. It is convenient care designed to meet patients where they are and help them get back to feeling their best.

Dori Moss, Express Care Practice Manager, has spent more than 20 years in healthcare with a simple goal in mind: helping people get the care they need when they need it most. Her career began in the U.S. Navy, where she found a passion for community healthcare and she was later drawn to Primary Health Solutions because of its mission to make quality care accessible for everyone—a mission that continues to inspire her work today.

“What keeps me motivated is knowing the work we do genuinely helps people,” Moss said. “Whether it’s helping someone avoid an emergency room visit, getting a patient connected to a primary care provider for the first time or simply making sure someone feels heard and cared for when they’re sick, those moments matter.”

More Than Just Coughs and Colds

Many people think of Express Care as a place to visit when they have a cold, sore throat, sinus infection, stomach bug or ear infection. While those are certainly common reasons patients walk through the door, the range of services available at Express Care often leaves people surprised.

“Our providers can evaluate and treat a variety of conditions, including minor injuries, simple fractures, sprains, cuts that may require stitches, urinary tract infections, skin infections, migraines and certain women’s health concerns,” Moss said.

By providing timely treatment for conditions that don’t require an emergency room visit, Express Care helps patients get the care they need without the long wait.

Convenient Care for School, Sports and Work

Express Care supports patients beyond illness and injury. The clinics also offer sports and work physicals, making it easier for families, students and employees to complete important requirements quickly and conveniently.

During these visits, providers review health history, check vital signs and perform a physical assessment to ensure patients meet school, sports or employment requirements.

“We work hard to make the process efficient while still providing the personalized care our patients deserve,” Moss said.

Staying Healthy During the Summer Months

As temperatures rise and families spend more time outdoors, healthcare needs often shift with the season. Seasonal allergies remain one of the most common reasons patients seek care with symptoms ranging from congestion and itchy eyes to sinus pressure and persistent coughs.

Summer also brings an increase in dehydration, sunburn, poison ivy, insect bites, swimmer’s ear and minor injuries related to sports and outdoor activities.

“With kids out of school and spending more time outside, we typically see more cuts, sprains and other activity-related injuries,” Moss said. “We’re here to help families navigate those unexpected health concerns so they can get back to enjoying their summer.”

A Bridge to Better Health

One of the most valuable—and often overlooked—benefits of visiting one of our Express Care locations is the opportunity to connect patients with ongoing healthcare services. For many individuals, an urgent need for care becomes the first step toward building a long-term relationship with a healthcare provider.

Dori stated the importance of utilizing an Express Care visit to then get established with a PCP.

“This continuity of care is especially important for patients living with chronic conditions such as diabetes, high blood pressure or asthma, which require ongoing management and support. One of the biggest benefits is that we can help connect patients to other Primary Health Solutions services such as behavioral health, dental care, pharmacy services, and other resources they may need.”

The PHS Difference

While Express Care focuses on immediate healthcare needs, the support doesn’t stop when the visit ends. Patients then have access to the full network of services offered through Primary Health Solutions, including primary care, behavioral health, dental services, pharmacy services and additional community resources.

“We’re not just treating the issue that brought the patient in that day—we’re looking at the bigger picture.”

That integrated approach allows providers to look beyond the reason for today’s visit and help patients address their overall health and wellness. Whether someone needs follow-up care, ongoing treatment or access to additional services, Express Care serves as a convenient gateway to accessible, quality healthcare.

For Moss, some of the most meaningful moments happen after the visit is over. It’s knowing a patient avoided an unnecessary emergency room trip, helping a family get back to enjoying their summer or connecting someone with the ongoing care they need to stay healthy. Those are the moments that remind her why she chose a career in healthcare—and why she continues to serve the Hamilton and Middletown communities today. At Express Care, every visit is more than an appointment; it’s an opportunity to help patients take the next step toward better health.
